Script safety calls before you go live
An AI receptionist should route hazards to a person and to emergency services, not diagnose them. Public safety groups are clear on the basics: NFPA says to call a qualified electrician for sparks from an outlet, discolored or warm outlets, a burning or rubbery smell, or a tingling feeling when touching an appliance (NFPA electrical safety tips). ESFI says to stay at least 35 feet from a downed power line and call 911 (ESFI home safety FAQ). Write those into your greeting rules so the AI tells a caller with smoke, fire, a shock injury or a downed line to call 911 first, then flags the call to you.
What to look for
- Escalation that reaches a real person. Check whether transfers are on your plan, and whether it can try more than one number. On Rosie, transfers start on Scale and multi-number waterfall transfers are on Growth (Rosie pricing).
- Quote calls that become real leads. Panel upgrade and EV charger callers want a ballpark. Decide what price ranges you are comfortable having the AI give, and make sure the rest becomes a request or task with photos or details you can follow up on.
- Conversations vs minutes. Jobber meters conversations rather than minutes: a call counts when the Receptionist actually engages, spam does not count, and a text thread counts once per 24 hours. You can also set it to pause at the limit instead of paying overages (Jobber Receptionist help article). - Field service software fit. Native booking beats a Zapier step that only creates a client record.
